The City of Pleasanton contracts with non-profit organizations that offer housing and human services support at little to no cost to the public ranging from legal representation, housing placement, financial aid and other types of assistance programs.
Please note some of the resources listed below may require referrals from another agency and may screen clients based on eligibility. These services are also subject to available funding and may not be able to cover all requests for assistance.

CRIL (Community Resources for Independent Living)
CRIL is a nonprofit organization that advocates and provides resources for people with disabilities to improve quality of life and make communities fully accessible.
Services provided include housing assistance, personal assistance referral, information referral, benefits advocacy, peer support, independent living skills training, healthy women project and assistive technology.

East Bay Innovations
East Bay Innovations is a nonprofit agency dedicated to assisting people with developmental disabilities to live in their own homes and to be employed in jobs of their choosing.
Services are provided through three programs: Employment Services, Independent Living Services and Supported Living Services.

Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB)
RCEB supports persons with developmental disabilities and their families with the tools needed to achieve lives of quality and satisfaction, and builds partnerships that result in inclusive communities.
Individuals who have a developmental disability, or are at risk of developing one are eligible for services, as well as parents of children at risk.

Kaleidoscope Community Adult Program
The Kaleidoscope Community Adult Program is a community-based day program for adults with developmental disabilities and special needs in the Tri-Valley, and is operated by Easterseals Bay Area. Kaleidoscope builds independence and self-esteem by providing participants with community connections, life skills training and workforce readiness.
With financial support from the City of Pleasanton, Kaleidoscope plays an important role teaching vital independent living skills to Tri-Valley adults with developmental disabilities and special needs, and in building inclusion within the community at large.

Keystone Adult Learning Center
Keystone Adult Learning Center is an activity program for developmentally disabled adults located in Pleasanton.
Keystone provides opportunities for developmentally disabled adults to lead meaningful and active lives within the mainstream of the Tri-Valley community.
The agency is an adult day care facility licensed by the California State Department of Social Services and a vendor agency with the Regional Center of the East Bay.

The City of Pleasanton’s Housing Rehabilitation Program can provide grants and loans for accessibility improvements in rental units and owner-occupied homes.
Accessibility grants can be used for the construction of railings, installation of grab bars and/or similar modifications.
The construction of ramps and other more expensive modifications can be addressed for homeowners under the Major Owner Rehabilitation Loan Program.

There are presently over 400 apartments in Pleasanton which are available exclusively for low-income seniors to rent. These apartments are in seven separate complexes located throughout Pleasanton, as listed below:

The complexes in the table are generally listed in order of affordability (lowest to highest rent). Each has different rent levels and income eligibility requirements that vary according to the method by which the development was originally financed (i.e., federal, state, local, or private funding). Ridge View Commons is administered by a management company employed by the City of Pleasanton. The other complexes are privately owned and rents and income eligibility levels are regulated through federal requirements or City-Owner agreements. Rent levels are subject to periodic change and should be confirmed with the on-site management.
With the exception of Parkview, all of the complexes listed in the preceding table are for “independent living” and generally do not include services such as meals, housekeeping, or personal care. Because these apartments are often significantly below local market rents, leasing is highly competitive and eligible applicants must often wait a year or more for an available apartment. Leasing for all of these complexes is handled directly by each property manager. Telephone numbers for the leasing offices are listed in the table shown above.

Most of the housing in Pleasanton reserved specifically for seniors, especially low income housing, is rental housing. However, there are several age-restricted neighborhoods in Pleasanton where residents can own their homes.

Case managers can provide information and referrals to local facilities and service agencies and can work directly with seniors and their families to connect with needed resources.
Housing with services is also available in smaller state-certified residential board and care facilities. These facilities typically house 6 residents or fewer in homes located in residential neighborhoods in Pleasanton and surrounding communities.
