Biking in Pleasanton

Officer adjusting bike helmet

The City of Pleasanton encourages residents and employees to consider bicycling as a viable commute alternative. Throughout the year, bicycle safety classes are provided by Bike East Bay certified instructors to help new riders learn safe bicycling skills. In May, Bike to Wherever and School Days are held to give the community opportunities to try biking to work, and school, a park, or to run errands.

Numerous events and workshops are planned to prepare for Bike to Wherever and School Days during the months of March and April. Bike East Bay encourages Alameda County residents to pedal wherever you need to go on the official Bike to Wherever Day which occurs on the third Thursday in May.

Bike to Wherever Campaign

May is National Bike Month in the cities of Dublin and Pleasanton. Both cities will host activities to promote bicycle safety and bicycling as a healthy way to travel, including the Bay Area’s Annual Bike to Work Day, which is typically on the third Thursday of the month.

On May 16, 2024, Bike to Work Day Energizer Stations were planned throughout the Bay Area. Cyclists will enjoy refreshments and will receive free bike bags filled with giveaways from local and regional sponsors (while supplies last). The Cities of Dublin and Pleasanton, along with BART, Hacienda, Veeva Systems, and REI Dublin will host the Energizer Stations from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at both BART stations.
