PLEASANTON, Calif. – City Manager Gerry Beaudin is pleased to announce the appointment of Siew-Chin Yeong as the City’s Director of Public Works following a competitive recruitment process. Yeong’s first day with the City will be March 25, 2024.

“We are pleased to have Siew-Chin join the City’s executive team. Her expertise in budget management, stakeholder coordination, and implementing effective project management, while staying focused on delivering essential services and driving improvements, will well serve Pleasanton,” Beaudin said.

Yeong has 24 years of experience in civil engineering, capital project management, and development and oversight of capital programs in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining the City of Pleasanton, she served as the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Oakland and in several positions with the City and County of San Francisco, including as the Director of Capital Program and Construction. During her tenure she was responsible for overseeing delivery of Oakland’s $455 million and SFMTA’s $3.2 billion capital improvement programs, managed construction of a $500 million annual paving program that included replacing 13.6 miles of sewer systems, and development of storm water and facilities master plans. Yeong also oversaw capital initiatives and the development of a maintenance capital program for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART).

In Pleasanton, Yeong will lead the City’s Public Works Department where she will oversee all operations and maintenance, utilities and environmental services, and engineering activities. Upcoming projects include completion of water, sewer and storm system master plans, development of an Asset Managment Plan, and design and construction of new wells to address PFAS, along with capital projects that advance the City’s strategic ONE Pleasanton and Climate Action plans. “Pleasanton is a progressive city with existing development and infrastructure opportunities. I’m excited to join this well-regarded organization as I lead a talented team in accomplishing City Council and community goals and objectives,” remarked Yeong.

Yeong has a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from Iowa State University.
