Jack Balch is a lifelong resident of the region and a Pleasanton resident for more than two decades and has a long history of public service. He attended Sunol Glen Elementary School and participated in Sunol 4-H, showing animals at the Alameda County Fair many times during his youth.
Councilmember Balch was elected at large to a four-year term on the Pleasanton City Council in November 2020. Prior to his election, Councilmember Balch served on the Planning Commission for more than six years and was chair in 2017. From 2009 to 2014, he was a member of the Parks & Recreation Commission, which he chaired in 2012. During this time, Councilmember Balch served on the Kottinger Place Task Force, the Parks & Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee and the East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force.
Councilmember Balch has worked in a business finance role for more than 20 years and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of his family’s commercial real estate company located in the East Bay. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where he graduated cum laude in business administration. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), an accredited Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and holds a Real Estate Broker’s license.
When not working, Councilmember Balch enjoys hiking, mountain biking, fishing and camping with his family. He has been a coach for Pleasanton Little League and continues to serve on several boards and volunteers with several organizations in the area.
