Pleasanton, CA – At its Oct. 17, 2023 meeting, the Pleasanton City Council approved conceptual plans to refresh and invest in amenities at downtown Lions Wayside and Delucchi Parks. The updated plans focus on improvements to the parks that are within the available project budget of approximately $1.9 million.
The selected design includes a new bandstand on the north side of the Lions Wayside Park that maximizes the lawn area for concert viewing near the bandstand and allows for the Firehouse Arts Center Plaza to be incorporated as a prime location for concert viewing. This option retains most of the existing trees, adds additional trees, will include additional seating and picnic areas, and includes a dance area in front of the bandstand. In Delucchi Park, the landscaping around the restroom and the existing pathway to the crosswalk at Neal Street will be updated.
Improvements are designed to avoid impacts to Kottinger Creek, which regional, state, and federal agencies have jurisdiction over, to avoid triggering costly regulatory approvals.
The design process will be completed this fall and winter, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin upon completion of the summer 2024 concert series. Construction is planned to be complete before the 2025 concert series begins. The summer 2024 concerts will take place in the same area as the 2023 concert series.

We love concerts in the park, eating ice cream with our families, playing games, and going on a picnic under a shady tree,” said Karla Brown, Mayor of Pleasanton. “The investment into the Lions Wayside Park and bandstand is something to be proud of and will add a creative, exciting, and new feeling to the entire downtown area.”
