Pleasanton, Calif. – The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has awarded Pleasanton City Manager Gerry Beaudin the ICMA Credentialed Manager designation. This prestigious recognition is granted to local government professionals who exemplify integrity, continuous learning, and commitment to thriving communities.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers who serve local governments and regional entities worldwide.

To receive the respected ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government, have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field, and demonstrate a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

With more than 22 years of public service, including 15 in community development, City Manager Beaudin has led numerous projects around long-range and current land use planning, traffic planning and engineering, and economic development strategies. During his time as Pleasanton’s Community Development Director, Beaudin supported Workday’s expansion in Pleasanton and spearheaded the approval of Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch, Pleasanton’s first residential community that provides affordable, independent living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Since his appointment as City Manager in Pleasanton in May 2022, Beaudin has directed several key initiatives aimed at strengthening the City’s operations and long-term sustainability. Under his leadership, the City developed its first 5-year strategic plan and launched a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiative. He has restructured departments by merging Engineering and Operations Services into the new Public Works Department and embraced technology to improve efficiency and public access to information. His focus on securing new funding streams has resulted in nearly $20 million in annual grants over the past two years. Additionally, City Manager Beaudin has made significant efforts to ensure the City’s financial stability, positioning it to meet community needs now and in the future.

Beaudin holds a bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University, a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto, and is a graduate of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
