PLEASANTON, Calif. — The City is launching its first Pleasanton Community Academy, with classes starting in January 2024. Designed so that participants will “Engage, Participate, and Discover”, the program will provide a unique opportunity for community members to expand their understanding of local government. The Pleasanton Community Academy will consist of five sessions, each designed to offer participants an immersive experience in various aspects of the City’s delivery of programs and services, and the opportunity to connect with city officials and fellow community members.
The Pleasanton Community Academy will cover an array of topics, including infrastructure, leisure activities, public safety, and management skills training. Sessions will be held on Wednesday evenings from January through May, running from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The five sessions of the Pleasanton Community Academy are:
- Session 1: January 17 – City Government 101
- Session 2: February 21 – Securing our City: Public Safety Night
- Session 3: March 20 – Investing in our Environment: Water, Streets, and Sustainability
- Session 4: April 17 – Building a Community: Plans and Parks
- Session 5: May 22 – Championing Pleasanton: Good Citizen Skills
The program is open to individuals who live or work in Pleasanton, aged 18 or above. While the sessions are free, space is limited to 25 participants. Applications will be accepted through November 15, 2023. The City is currently actively recruiting for the Academy through an online application form found on the City’s website.
