FAQs

The City only accepts applications for existing recruitments. When applying for a job, thoroughly complete the employment application and any supplemental questions. Be sure to review the job announcement and submit any required supplemental materials.
The City only accepts applications and resumes for positions open for recruitment. Review the employment brochure for application requirements. If a current recruitment does not meet your interest, fill out an online interest card to be notified of future recruitments with the City.
It is highly encouraged and preferred that applicants complete the online application. However, it is not mandatory.

To prepare for the testing process, it is helpful to review the job announcement and job description to identify job responsibilities, knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the position. Conduct a self-assessment of the related competencies you specifically possess which are transferable to the position for which you are interviewing.

The City offers benefits for employees appointed to regular positions, as per the assigned bargaining unit for the employee’s job classification.
As part of the reference checking process (prior to a job offer), the candidate must pass a fingerprint screening to check for criminal offender record information with the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (where applicable).
If the position applied for requires a California Class A, B, or C driver’s license, the City will require verification from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Covid-19 Employee Protocol

The City of Pleasanton continues to affirm employee safety as our primary concern. As such, we want our workforce to be informed regarding COVID-19 and the workplace safety protocols put in place to maintain a healthy organization.
  • If you develop any symptoms of illness, including but not limited to, fever, coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of smell and/or taste, runny nose, congestion, sneezing, headache, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting, report your symptoms to your supervisor and return home.
  • You will be directed to call Occupational Health (Stanford Health Care) at (925) 534-0211 for further guidance about your symptoms and whether COVID-19 testing is necessary.
  • Even if you contact your private physician/healthcare provider, you must also contact Occupational Health (Stanford Health Care) for guidance on the steps necessary for clearance to return to work.
Call your supervisor to inform them you feel ill. You will be referred to call Occupational Health (Stanford Health Care) at (925) 534-0211 for further guidance about your symptoms and whether COVID-19 testing is necessary.

Privacy reminder: Medical information is private. For all employees, including any employee with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, the right to privacy should be strictly maintained. Do not share any information that sacrifices another employee’s right to privacy. Of course, it is appropriate to share the necessary information with your private physician, Occupational Health and/or your public health department.
