Craig Eicher

Councilmember – District 2

Craig Eicher was elected to the Pleasanton City Council in November 2024. A 46-year resident of Pleasanton, Councilmember Eicher served the Pleasanton Police Department for 32 years, retiring as captain after serving as interim police chief. He held key roles in investigations and led several initiatives, such as the implementation of the Axon body camera system and the creation of a Homeless Outreach Team. His community-focused approach led to active involvement in programs like D.A.R.E. and National Night Out, and the City’s Homeless Outreach Program.

Councilmember Eicher serves on multiple City and regional subcommittees including the Dublin San Ramon Services District Liaison Committee, East Bay Regional Park District Liaison Committee, Alameda County Fair Liaison Committee, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Joint Powers Authority, Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, the City Audit and Waste and Recycling Council Subcommittees, and as the City’s representative to the East Bay Division of the League of California Cities.

Reflecting his commitment to public service, leadership, and community engagement in Pleasanton, Councilmember Eicher has been involved in numerous local organizations. He established the Pleasanton Police Officers’ Charitable Foundation and served on boards for the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Hope Hospice where as president he helped to guide the organization through a period of financial recovery, and the Pleasanton Community of Character Collaborative, where he is currently president. Additionally, he has actively supported the Widmer-World holiday display for more than 35 years.

After moving to Pleasanton in 1978, Councilmember Eicher graduated from Foothill High School, Las Positas College, and California State University, Hayward, with a B.A. in Administration of Justice. He later earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from St. Mary’s College. Councilmember Eicher and his wife, Kimberly, raised their two children in Pleasanton.
